Cheng Hsin Ontology
Ontology is defined as “the study of being”. Cheng Hsin ontology is not an intellectual pursuit but rather we set out to experience for ourselves what is true.
In getting to the truth of our experience, it is necessary that we recognise what isn’t the truth!
- Beliefs
- Judgements
- Assumptions
- Opinions
- Conclusions
If we start to look at all we hold to be the truth, we begin to uncover a world where much of what we hold to be the truth is hearsay. If we don't experience something, how can we know it to be true?
Have you ever noticed how different people can have very different experiences of the one situation? Through the ontology work, we open up to seeing how much of our present experience is biased through opinions and conclusions based on past experiences. Fears, predudices, desires, memories and thoughts are all conceptual yet it is our concepts that shape the context of how we experience our lives.
Cheng Hsin Ontology is an experiential inquiry into the mechanisms of mind and perception, the underlying sources and motivations of our behaviours and thought patterns and the dynamics of experience and relationship.
This work helps us to find the threads of our experience and trace them back to their roots. We need to discover the entirety of a thread to discover the truth of what it is. By unravelling the various threads of our existence, we can see what (if anything) is holding the other end!
